I fear that the section on Blanford’s in the podcast and in the cited blog do not properly present Blanford’s ideas. I have no relationship with Blanford or his programs, and assuredly do not presume to speak for him.
My understand of Blanford’s premise is that we feel shame and we fear people will reject us if knew the truth about our thoughts, feeling and history.
To him, truth is a way to overcome those fears and sense of shame.
It is not about truth for its own sake, or about not telling well chosen tactical lies. It is about self acceptance.
